Description
Recomaze does two things for a WordPress site, and they feed each other.
An AI chat agent on the site. A conversational agent that answers visitor questions from your own catalog, policies and knowledge base – not generic AI answers – recommends the right product, and carries the visitor toward checkout.
AEO and GEO. AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) are two names for the same discipline: getting a site retrieved, understood and cited by AI assistants when they generate an answer. Recomaze tracks whether AI actually mentions you, fixes the reasons it does not, and publishes the content and machine-readable signals that make you quotable.
The loop between them is the point. The chat agent sees every question your visitors ask, including the ones it could not answer. Those failures become a work list for the AEO side – and content published for AEO comes back as knowledge the agent can answer from.
Traditional SEO competes for a position on a page of links. AEO competes to be inside the generated answer. A page can rank well in Google and never be quoted by an AI assistant, usually because nothing on it can be parsed into a clear, checkable claim.
The AI chat agent
- Answers from your own content – the agent replies from your catalog, knowledge base and policies, in your brand voice, instead of improvising.
- Recommends products in conversation – it surfaces the right item as part of the answer and links the visitor to it.
- Your styling – colors, placement, wording and the launcher are yours to set, so the agent looks like part of the site.
- Preview mode – turn the agent on for administrators only and try it on the live site before any visitor sees it.
- Conversation analytics – conversations, visitor journeys, KPIs and insights, so you can read what people actually ask.
- Campaigns – run targeted on-site campaigns through the agent.
Gaps: what the agent could not answer
Every conversation the agent handles badly is recorded as a gap and sorted into four buckets: information missing, feature or product missing, cannot guide, and out of scope. A gap is not a report you read and forget – each one carries a fix, and the fix is a button:
- Missing information becomes a knowledge base article the agent can answer from next time.
- A losing topic becomes an AI Visibility article drafted on that exact question.
- A vague product becomes a product rewrite in the Content Generator, focused on the attributes the visitor asked about.
- A policy question becomes a policy update in your knowledge base.
You can mark a gap resolved or dismiss it. The list is filtered by period, so you can see whether last month’s holes actually got closed.
AI Visibility
- Visibility scans – ask the buying questions that matter in your niche and record which brands the AI names in the answer.
- Tracked prompts – keep a set of questions under continuous tracking and watch each one trend over time.
- Competitor tracking – see which brands take the mentions you do not, add competitors deliberately, and exclude ones that are not really rivals.
- Cited sources – see which pages an AI actually pulled from when it answered.
- Mentioned vs cited – being named and being used as a source are different results, and they are reported separately.
- Funnel coverage – see which stage of the buying journey your content covers and where it stops.
- Scan history and wins/losses – what moved since the last scan, in both directions.
- Trending in your chat – questions rising in your own visitor conversations, promoted into tracked prompts.
Content that answers the question
- Content Generator – draft articles against the questions you are losing, then publish them straight into WordPress posts.
- Page templates – reusable structures for the page types that earn answers, run across topics.
- Content Checker – check a draft against what answer engines can actually extract from it, and apply the fixes.
- Optimized text pages and product content – rewrite titles, descriptions and Q&A so an AI can lift a fact instead of guessing at marketing copy.
- Prompt templates – reusable generation prompts, so output stays consistent with how you write.
- Scheduling and images – schedule a publish, and get image suggestions with the draft.
- Multi-language – generate the same content in several languages.
Catalog and context
- Catalog Quality – scan products, score how AI-ready each one is, and fix them individually or in bulk.
- Import – bulk upload products and content.
- Knowledge Base – the source of truth the agent answers from: policies, shipping, returns, anything a visitor asks.
- AI Company ID – what you sell, who you sell to and how you talk, built once and pushed to everything the agent and the content generator produce.
- Connectors and integrations – connect the site so Recomaze can publish back to it, and plug into the rest of your stack.
- llms.txt – served automatically at
/llms.txtand/llm.txt, the emerging convention for telling AI crawlers what a site is and what it offers. No file to write by hand. - AI crawler log – every fetch of your llms.txt is recorded, so you can see which AI crawlers came, how often, and when they started.
- Answer schema – Article and FAQPage JSON-LD published in the page head, so an answer engine can lift a question and its answer directly. If Yoast or Rank Math already emits the Article, Recomaze steps aside and publishes only the FAQ, so the page never carries two.
- SEO fields filled in for you – articles published by Recomaze arrive with the focus keyphrase, SEO title and meta description already written into the plugin’s own SEO fields, and into Yoast SEO’s and Rank Math’s fields when one of them runs the site.
- AI copilot in the admin – ask it to do the work and it runs the steps for you.
- Dashboard – one AI-readiness score, the setup steps still open, and the latest articles, gaps and insights.
SEO
The SEO module is the on-page and technical side of the same work, built to replace a separate SEO plugin rather than sit next to one. Every part is a switch on the SEO dashboard.
- Titles, meta and robots – templates with variables per post type, taxonomy and archive, canonical URLs, noindex rules, Open Graph and X cards, webmaster verification, and an SEO box in the block editor, the classic editor, WooCommerce products, terms and author profiles with a Google preview, a content analysis and a score.
- Schema – one JSON-LD graph per page (Organization or Person, WebSite, WebPage, breadcrumbs, Article, Product with offers and reviews), FAQ, How-to and table of contents blocks, and a schema builder with 17 types per post plus custom JSON-LD.
- Sitemaps and indexing – XML sitemaps for posts, terms, authors, images, video and news, an HTML sitemap, IndexNow, robots.txt and .htaccess editors, breadcrumbs, RSS text, image SEO and llms.txt built from settings.
- Redirects, 404s and links – a redirect manager with automatic redirects on slug changes, a 404 monitor, a link counter with orphan pages and a broken link checker.
- Local SEO – LocalBusiness schema, a contact shortcode with a map, several locations with their own pages and a store locator. The pieces take the theme’s look, can be previewed inside the theme from the settings, and accept your own CSS.
- Catalog fix from the product – a “Fix title & description” button in the SEO box of every WooCommerce product asks Recomaze for a title with the brand, model and type, a description grounded in the product data, a short description, tags, SEO title and meta description, shows what would change word by word, and writes only the fields you keep – journaled, with Undo.
- Checkup – about sixty checks over the whole site (indexing, settings, content, links, media, the home page as a crawler receives it, speed, the server, security) with a score, a fix button where the plugin can do it itself, a hand-off to the Copilot for the rest, and a journal of every automatic change with a way back; the open items show as counts in the menu. The Automation tab runs the SEO Medic: the Recomaze agent repeats the checkup on a schedule, writes the fixes you allow it to write (meta descriptions, focus keywords, alt texts, redirects for repeated 404s) and puts the rest up for your approval, every write journaled with Undo.
- Analytics – clicks, impressions, CTR and positions from Google Search Console, by query and by page, once the site is connected from the plugin (the connection and the data live in the Recomaze API, see External Services).
- Switching is one click – the settings and per-post fields of Rank Math and Yoast SEO import in one go; while one of them is active, Recomaze prints nothing that would double theirs.
Where your site can appear
Recomaze prepares content for the assistants people actually ask, including ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Microsoft Copilot. These are independent services; Recomaze is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them, and no plugin can guarantee a mention in a generated answer. What Recomaze does is remove the reasons a site gets skipped: thin content, no machine-readable summary, no structured answers, nothing published against the question being asked.
How it works
- Install, activate, and connect the site to Recomaze from the WordPress admin.
- Recomaze reads your site and builds your AI Company ID: what you offer, who for, in what voice.
- It scans AI assistants for the questions in your niche and reports where you stand against your competitors.
- It fixes what it can – content, product text, knowledge base, llms.txt, schema – and drafts what is missing.
- The chat agent goes live, and every question it cannot answer comes back as a gap with a fix attached.
WooCommerce optional
Recomaze runs on any WordPress site. A content site that wants the chat agent and the AEO work installs it and never touches a product. When WooCommerce is active, the catalog features switch on as well: product scanning and scoring, bulk product rewrites, product recommendations in chat and order tracking.
External Services
This plugin connects to the following external services:
-
Recomaze API
- Domain(s):
https://api.recomaze.aihttps://stagingapi.recomaze.ai(for testing and staging environments)
- Purpose:
The API is used to retrieve user-specific product recommendations, update user preferences, and refresh authentication tokens. Once a day, and when the plugin page opens after an hour, the plugin asks it which features the account has (for example the SEO module, which runs only where Recomaze has opened it); the request carries the plugin token and nothing else. When the site owner connects Google Search Console from SEO Analytics, the API also holds the Google connection (the owner signs in with Google and grants read-only access; no Google credentials are stored in WordPress) and keeps a copy of the site’s Search Console rows (date, query, page, country, device, clicks, impressions, position) that it refreshes daily and serves to the plugin’s Analytics page; disconnecting deletes the copy. - Data Sent:
- Plugin token (used for authentication)
- Store domain (to identify the WooCommerce store)
- Interaction events such as user preferences or clicks
- Product details from orders, including:
- Product names
- Product characteristics (e.g., categories, attributes)
- Product prices

Recomaze Tracking UI
- Domain(s):
https://trackui.recomaze.aihttps://stagingtrackui.recomaze.ai(for testing and staging environments)
- Purpose:
The tracking service is used to display UI components such as recommendation popups and gather anonymous usage metrics to optimize recommendations. - Data Sent:
- Client ID associated with the WooCommerce store.
- Domain(s):
-
Recomaze Collector Service
- Domain(s):
https://collector.recomaze.ai
- Purpose:
The collector service is used to retrieve reports for analytics and recommendations. - Data Received:
- Analytics reports and performance insights.

Recomaze Agent
- Domain(s):
https://agent.recomaze.ai
- Purpose:
The AI features of the admin dashboard (AI visibility scans, content generation and checks, catalog quality, the copilot chat, article publishing back to this site) and, once the site is connected, the SEO agent that reads the site’s content and SEO fields and writes optimizations back through the plugin’s own REST endpoints, authenticated with the plugin token. No language-model or Google API key is stored in WordPress; the agent holds them. - Data Sent:
- The account token, the site domain, the product and page content selected for analysis or generation, and the prompts typed in the dashboard.
- For “Fix title & description” in the SEO box of a product: the product’s title, its description as text, its short description, SKU, categories and attributes, sent from the server with the account token when you press the button; the rewrite is shown first and written only when you apply it.
- For “Fix with AI” in the SEO box of a post: the title, the content (as text, and as HTML when you ask for the rewrite), the excerpt, the address and slug, the focus keyword, the failing tests of the content analysis and, for the rewrite, the titles and addresses of up to 20 published pages of the site it may link to, as they stand in the editor, sent from the server with the account token when you press the button; the suggested SEO title, meta description, focus keyword, slug and content are shown first and go into the editor only when you apply them.
- For the internal links and the FAQ in the SEO box of a post: the title, the content as text, the address and the focus keyword of the post being written, plus the titles, addresses and a line of the text of up to 40 published pages of the site, sent from the server with the account token when you press the button; the suggestions and the questions come back and go into the content only when you insert or add them.
- For the alt text of images: the address of each image (Recomaze fetches the picture to look at it), its file name, its media library title and caption and the title of the page it was uploaded to, sent from the server with the account token when you press the button in SEO General settings Image SEO, or when an upload arrives and that option is on; the alt text comes back and is written to the media library, journaled with Undo.
- For the SEO agent: the titles, slugs, URLs, excerpts, text content, …

FAQ
-
Do I need WooCommerce to use this plugin?
-
No. Recomaze works on any WordPress site, including a blog or a content site with no shop at all – the chat agent, AEO and GEO features all run without it. WooCommerce is only needed for the catalog features: product scanning and scoring, bulk product rewrites and product recommendations.
-
What is AEO?
-
AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimization: optimizing a site so AI assistants can retrieve, understand and cite it when they generate an answer, rather than optimizing only for a ranked list of links.
-
What is GEO?
-
GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization. It is used interchangeably with AEO and describes the same goal: being the source a generative AI builds its answer from.
-
How is AEO different from SEO?
-
SEO competes for a position on a results page the visitor still has to click. AEO competes to be inside the answer itself. The work is different: facts stated plainly, structure a machine can parse, and content published against the question actually being asked.
-
How do I get my products recommended by ChatGPT?
-
An AI recommends what it can retrieve and verify. In practice that means pages that state facts plainly, a machine-readable summary of the site, structured data an assistant can lift, and content that answers the question. Recomaze automates all four and then tracks whether the mentions appear.
-
What is a gap?
-
A gap is a conversation your chat agent handled badly – a question it could not answer, a product it could not find, a visitor it could not guide. Recomaze groups them by type and attaches a fix to each: draft the missing knowledge base article, write the article on that topic, rewrite the product, or update a policy.
-
What is llms.txt and does this plugin create one?
-
llms.txt is a plain-text file at the root of a site telling AI crawlers what the site is, what it offers and where the important content lives – robots.txt, aimed at language models. Recomaze generates and serves it at
/llms.txtand/llm.txtautomatically; the post types, taxonomies, limits and extra text come from SEO General settings llms.txt, which can also switch on/llms-full.txtwith the text of the pages themselves. -
Does this plugin add schema markup?
-
Yes. With the SEO module’s Schema switch on, every page carries one JSON-LD graph: the site’s Organization or Person, WebSite, WebPage, breadcrumbs, the Article or Product of the page, FAQ and How-to blocks, and whatever the schema builder adds per post. Content generated by Recomaze is published with its Article and FAQPage data folded into the same graph, so answer engines can extract a question and its answer directly.
-
Can I see whether AI assistants mention my site?
-
Yes. Recomaze tracks a set of buying questions, records which brands are named in the answers and which sources are cited, and reports your share over time next to the competitors taking the rest.
-
Does it work with my SEO plugin?
-
Yes. Recomaze has its own SEO module, and while Rank Math, Yoast SEO, All in One SEO or SEOPress is active the module prints nothing of its own – no second title, description, canonical, sitemap or schema – and its editor fields stay hidden unless you turn on the compatibility mode. When Recomaze publishes an article it fills in Yoast SEO’s and Rank Math’s own fields on that post – focus keyphrase, SEO title and meta description – so the post arrives complete instead of needing a second pass. When you decide to switch, SEO Import & export brings the settings and the per-post fields of Rank Math or Yoast over in one run and can deactivate the other plugin in the same step.
-
Do I have to replace my SEO plugin?
-
No. The SEO module is optional; keep your current plugin and Recomaze stays out of its way. Turn the module on, import, and switch only when you want one plugin doing both jobs.
-
Is there a free version?
-
Yes. The free tier includes the AI discoverability audit, an action plan and a monthly credit allowance, with paid plans for larger catalogs and higher volumes.
-
The plugin shares site domain, product details and interaction events with the Recomaze API. The External Services section above lists every service, what is sent and why.
-
What does the SEO module send to Recomaze?
-
Nothing until the site is connected to a Recomaze account, and then the site’s own content and its SEO fields – published posts by default, drafts, pending, scheduled and private posts only when the agent asks for them to prepare their fields: post, product, page and term titles, URLs, text, images with alt text, SEO titles, descriptions, focus keywords, robots, canonical and social fields, schema, link counts and the 404 log (addresses, referers and browser user agents; no IP addresses). Comments, users, orders and customer data are never read. The agent writes back SEO fields, alt text, schema and redirects through the plugin’s REST endpoints, authenticated with the plugin token; every write is visible in the post’s SEO box and can be edited or removed there. No language-model or Google API key is ever stored in WordPress. IndexNow, the maps and the address lookup are separate opt-ins, listed above.

Changelog
1.1.118
- Fix: Import & switch also deactivates the other SEO plugin’s PRO edition and add-ons (Rank Math PRO, Yoast SEO Premium and its add-ons, SEOPress PRO, the All in One SEO add-ons) and any plugin that declares it needs it; Rank Math PRO left active without Rank Math took a site down with an error on every page.
1.1.117
- Fix: while another SEO plugin such as Rank Math is active, the Checkup’s robots.txt fixes lead to Import & switch instead of saving an AI crawler choice that plugin does not serve (the button seemed to do nothing), the sitemap and IndexNow checks step aside, and the Checkup and the robots.txt editor say that the other plugin prints the site and that Recomaze’s own fields stay empty until its data is imported.
1.1.116
- Change: requires WordPress 6.2 or later, the first to ship the React the plugin pages are built on (5.8 to 6.1 installed it and showed an empty page); checked on WordPress 6.2 with PHP 7.4 and WooCommerce 7.9.
- New: SEO module – titles, meta description, robots, canonical and Open Graph tags printed by the plugin; a JSON-LD graph (Organization or Person, WebSite, WebPage, breadcrumbs, articles, products, FAQ and How-to blocks, a schema builder with 17 types per post and custom JSON-LD); an SEO box in the block editor, the classic editor, WooCommerce products, terms and author profiles with Rank Math-style content analysis and scores; list columns with quick and bulk edit.
- New: SEO settings pages under Recomaze SEO (General, Titles & meta, Sitemap, Redirects, 404 monitor, Links, Local SEO, Role manager), with importers for Rank Math and Yoast, reverse export, and a JSON backup of the whole configuration.
- New: XML sitemaps (posts, terms, authors, images, video, news) with an HTML sitemap shortcode, IndexNow, redirects with auto redirects on slug changes, a 404 monitor, a link counter with orphan pages and a broken link checker, image SEO, breadcrumbs (block, shortcode, WooCommerce), robots.txt and .htaccess editors, RSS before and after text, llms.txt built from settings plus llms-full.txt, and shop URLs without the /product/ and /product-category/ bases or the parent category slugs (the old addresses redirect).
- New: Local SEO with a LocalBusiness schema, a contact shortcode with a map, several locations with their own pages, locations.kml and a store locator with a Leaflet map.
- New: server-to-server endpoints for the Recomaze agent (inventory, 404 log, links, apply SEO fields, redirects) with the plugin token; article publishing writes the plugin’s own SEO fields and mirrors them into Rank Math and Yoast.
- New: “Fix title & description” on WooCommerce products – the SEO box asks Recomaze for a rewrite of the product (title, description, short description, tags, SEO title, meta description), shows the changes word by word next to what the product has, and writes the fields you keep through WooCommerce, journaled with Undo in SEO Checkup Changes.
- New: internal link suggestions and a FAQ in the SEO box – Recomaze reads the post and the other published pages of the site, says which to link to and with which words already in the text (Insert puts the link there), and writes the questions the page’s own text answers, added as the FAQ block with its FAQPage schema.
- New: alt text written by AI – the Image SEO tools describe the images of the media library that carry none (Recomaze looks at the picture itself), and an upload can be described as it arrives; every alt text is journaled with Undo.
- New: SEO Medic under Checkup Automation – the Recomaze agent runs the checkup on a schedule, writes the fixes you allow (meta descriptions, focus keywords, alt texts, redirects) and puts the rest up for approval from WordPress; every write is journaled with Undo.
- New: “Fix with AI” in the SEO box of every post – Recomaze reads the post as it stands in the editor and writes the SEO title, the meta description, the focus keyword and the URL slug so the failing tests pass, and, unless you untick it, rewrites the content itself (the keyword in the opening and a subheading, enough words, short paragraphs, an answer-first lead, a FAQ that becomes the FAQ block, internal links, alt text on the first image) keeping every fact of the current text; everything is shown word by word next to what the post has, the fields you keep go into the box and the editor and are saved with the post, and what no rewrite can do (an image, say) comes back as notes, with the Copilot one click away.
- Fix: one credentials row in wp_recomaze_settings; a re-registration no longer leaves the plugin on stale tokens.
- Security: the admin API key is no longer printed in wp-admin; the token check runs only on the plugin page and is throttled.
- Fix: order attribution works with the WooCommerce block checkout; every order is reported once and keeps its Recomaze session id.
- Change: product sync sends only what changed and runs in the background; drafts are not sent and trashed products are removed.
1.1.115
- The welcome-offer screen is removed. Finishing the Signup Mirror now goes straight to the setup steps.
1.1.114
- A priced voucher now rides the Stripe checkout instead of being redeemed separately.
- The welcome offer quotes the plan’s original list price.
- Fixed: a taxonomy term in article publishing settings keeps its own hidden checkbox.
1.1.113
- Fixed: clicking an agent in the plan picker scrolled the whole app frame half off the window with no way back. The frame can no longer be scrolled by a script, and View plans scrolls the page itself.
1.1.112
- Plans & Billing is rebuilt: the plans come from the Recomaze catalog, annual or monthly, picked the way recomaze.ai/pricing picks them, and the page opens on Starter paid annually.
1.1.111
- Settings: the Platform card flips to Connected on its own once the login is saved in the other tab, no reload needed.
1.1.110
- Settings: the Recomaze Platform login is set on custom.recomaze.ai, not typed into the plugin.
1.1.109
- New Settings page: connect the store to the Recomaze Platform with your email and password.
1.1.108
- Fixed: articles published as a custom post type lost their Article schema entirely when Yoast or Rank Math was active; the schema now steps aside only on posts and pages, where those plugins actually print their own.
- Fixed: a comma inside a focus keyphrase split it into two Rank Math keywords. A payload with no primary keyphrase now promotes the first secondary instead of leaving the post without one.
1.1.107
- Published articles now pass their secondary focus keyphrases to Rank Math, so its keyword density reflects every term the article uses for its subject.
1.1.106
- The plan cards on Plans & Billing line up: every button sits at the bottom of its card and the Enterprise card no longer sits lower than the others.
1.1.105
- The Automation module is gone from the sidebar; the Agentic Commerce Feed page is still reachable by link.
- Sidebar logo fix.
1.1.104
- Sidebar polish: Content Studio reordered, clearer names, the logo back in the rail, and the search field no longer loses its padding to the WordPress admin styles.
1.1.103
- New sidebar.
- Fixed: an Article schema published beside Yoast’s or Rank Math’s own gave the page two publication dates. Recomaze now publishes only the FAQ schema when an SEO plugin owns the Article.
- Fixed: schema on non-English sites printed mangled characters, from escapes lost when WordPress unslashed the stored value.
- Fixed: featured images arrived with empty alt text; the cover’s alt is written to the media library now.
1.1.102
- Fixed: the Analytics tab crashed to “Something went wrong loading this page” whenever it was reloaded or refreshed, from a React hook declared after an early return.
- Fixed: on a site without WooCommerce, the product import scheduled at activation and the Import Products endpoint called a WooCommerce function that does not exist and fatalled. Both are guarded now.
- The listing documents the AI crawler log and the SEO fields written for Yoast and Rank Math.
1.1.101
- Declared compatibility with WordPress 7.1 and added the WooCommerce compatibility headers.
1.1.100
- The listing and plugin description are rewritten around the chat agent, AEO and GEO, and now cover gaps, AI Visibility, content, catalog and llms.txt.
- Corrected: WooCommerce is not required. The plugin runs on any WordPress site.
- The trial banner quotes the launch price actually charged, not the list price.
1.1.98
- Launch offer is a fixed price for the first 6 billing cycles.
- Fixes to the sidebar, article colours, popup preview settings and AI Visibility.
Older releases are listed in changelog.txt in the plugin folder.
